Description

This function block provides either a stopwatch or a countdown . Time intervals can be flexibly measured or counted down using start, stop, and reset inputs. The remaining or elapsed time is displayed in minutes and seconds. In countdown mode, a buzzer (optional) provides an audible signal when the target time expires.

Available both as an SCL version and as an FUP block for easy integration into different programming styles.

Note: This module is designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and is not approved for live operation. Especially in automation projects, the function must be tested and approved by qualified personnel before productive use.

How it works

When the start signal is activated, the current system time is saved as a reference point. Timing begins. A stop signal freezes the running time and holds it until the next start. A reset signal resets all values ​​to zero and deactivates the buzzer.

In countdown mode, the module counts down to the preset target time. As soon as the value reaches 0, the buzzer is triggered. In stopwatch mode, the time counts up continuously, without a limit.

Thanks to the additional FUP version, the block can also be used in simpler control projects – without SCL knowledge.
