Description

This compact, practical function block for the Siemens TIA Portal implements intelligent lighting control with a motion detector or push-button input. The switch-on delay and follow-up time are individually adjustable and ensure comfortable and energy-efficient lighting. Ideal for hallways, stairwells, ancillary rooms, or industrial environments with automatic lighting control. (FUP & SCL)

Note: All modules are designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and are not approved for live operation. System modules, in particular, must be finally tested and commissioned by qualified personnel before productive use.

How it works

Depending on the configuration, the control system responds to a signal from either a motion detector or a push button. When the system detects an input signal, a configurable delay time starts. After this delay time, the light is switched on.

The light remains active as long as further signals are detected. As soon as there is no more movement or no new button signal is received, the delay timer begins. During this time, the lighting remains switched on and is only automatically deactivated after the time has elapsed. This ensures that the light remains reliably switched on during and shortly after the activity.

Technical details
  • Use of two IEC-compliant TON timers
  • Switch-on delay: activated by OR linking motion detector and button
  • Follow-up time: starts automatically after the input signal drops
  • Output provides a clear TRUE/FALSE signal to control relays or HMI display
  • All time values can be individually parameterized via TIME variables
Possible applications
  • Residential building (e.g. hallway, basement, stairwell)
  • Commercial units (offices, technical rooms, warehouses)
  • Industry & Parking Garages
  • Sanitary rooms or escape routes
  • Model building or smart home simulations

The combined use of button and motion detector input makes the module particularly flexible and practical.
