Description
This function block is a true all-rounder: It combines the control of lighting, heating, ventilation, and blinds in a single, well-designed module – including manual operation, automatic control, and window alarm. Written in Structured Control Language (SCL), the code can be used directly in the Siemens TIA Portal. Ideal for smart homes, offices, industrial facilities, or modern building automation.
Note: All modules are designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and are not approved for live operation. System modules, in particular, must be finally tested and commissioned by qualified personnel before productive use.
How it works
The module starts each cycle by initializing all outputs. After that, the four central functional areas interact:

Lighting control
Depending on the operating mode, switching is either manual via a button (with edge detection) or automatic via movement and twilight – including a follow-up time. -
Heating control
Either manually activated via a button or automatically temperature-controlled – but only when the window is closed. This saves energy without sacrificing comfort. -
ventilation
In automatic mode, the ventilation only switches on when the window is open and the temperature is sufficient. Alternatively, it can also be switched on and off manually using a button. -
Blind control
Move up or down manually or fully automatically at specified times – with integrated end position monitoring to protect the drive.
Window alarm included:
If a window is left open for too long, the module detects this over a configurable time and reports it via an alarm flag – until the user actively resets it.
Technical details
- Manual operation: All button commands are processed via set/reset edge triggers and stored as markers.
- Light delay & window alarm: Controlled by two separate TON timers.
- Automatic times: The blinds react to times with a 1-second tolerance.
- Limit values: Lux, temperature and time parameters can be set as input variables.
- Safety: Limit switches prevent mechanical overruns of blinds.
All actuators output clean TRUE/FALSE signals – ideal for PLC outputs or HMI displays.
