Climate chamber / incubator control

Description
This function block reliably controls temperature and humidity in rooms or enclosures. It combines sensor testing, automatic climate control, and safety functions in a compact SCL code. The block is ready to run in the Siemens TIA Portal and is suitable for use in control cabinets, laboratory environments, or HVAC systems.

Note: All modules are designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and are not approved for live operation. System modules, in particular, must be finally tested and commissioned by qualified personnel before productive use.

How it works
Initially, temperature and humidity sensors are checked for plausible measured values. If the values are outside the valid range, the module triggers an error alarm: The heating is switched off, the fan is activated (to protect against overheating), and the humidifier is deactivated. Actual control only takes effect when all sensors deliver valid values.

In automatic mode, a dynamic tolerance is calculated around the setpoints.

• If the temperature drops below the lower limit, the heating is switched on.
• If it rises above the upper limit or an open door is detected, the fan starts running.
• The humidity control follows the same principle and controls the humidifier depending on the actual humidity value.

Automatic operation can be switched off manually at any time.
In addition, extended alarms are defined for critical conditions – for example for monitoring systems or emergency messages via SMS or SCADA.
