Description
You're looking for a compact SCL block that controls the automatic movement of a storage and retrieval machine or shuttle in the X, Y, and Z directions—including referencing, gripper control, timeout monitoring, and safety checks. The code runs directly in the Siemens TIA Portal and is the heart of your automated warehouse or picking system.

Note: All modules are designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and are not approved for live operation. System modules, in particular, must be finally tested and commissioned by qualified personnel before productive use.

How it works

  1. Start automatic mode and receive approval from warehouse management
  2. Step 0: Set target coordinates, open or close gripper
  3. Step 1 & 2: Precise positioning in X and Y with tolerance windows and timeout timer
  4. Step 3: Lower the Z-axis
  5. Step 4: Gripper picks up or places the stored goods
  6. Step 5: Z-axis lifts again and checks sensor signals for safe position
  7. Step 6: When removing the bearings, short Y-stroke to avoid damage
  8. Step 7: Switch off all drives and reset the status
    • If a step exceeds the timeout, an alarm is triggered and the system returns to the safe basic state.

Technical details
• Emergency stop and stop buttons are always evaluated with priority and switch everything off immediately.
• Reference sensors and limit switches for X, Y and Z ensure precise position control.
• Freely definable target positions, tolerance values and timeouts as input variables.
• A finite state machine (FSM) with an integer step counter and a dynamically controlled TON timer.
• Clear TRUE/FALSE signals for motor forward/backward, up/down, in/out and gripper – can be connected directly to frequency converters or valves.
