Description
This compact SCL function block, FB_SGLoadManagement, controls loads in a grid-friendly manner in combination with photovoltaic generation. It uses the SG release, grid signal, grid load, and PV power to selectively switch loads on and off and avoid peak load situations. It can be used directly in the Siemens TIA Portal.

Note: All modules are designed exclusively as a learning and optimization basis and are not approved for live operation. System modules, in particular, must be finally tested and commissioned by qualified personnel before productive use.

How it works

  1. Cycle start: Reset outputs and HMI status (“WAITING FOR SIGNAL”)
  2. Check: ReleaseSG + mains signal missing → HMI “SG BLOCKED”, RETURN
  3. Load shedding: Load request + grid load > load limit → Consumer_ON = FALSE, Alarm = TRUE, HMI "LOAD SHEDDING"
  4. PV usage: PV_generation > PV_threshold → load_ON = TRUE, HMI "PV uses: LOAD ON"
  5. Standby: otherwise Consumer_ON = FALSE, HMI “STANDBY”
  6. Generator status: Generator_ON = (PV_Generation > 0)

Technical details
• Inputs: ReleaseSG, Grid signal, Load request, Grid load, PV generation, Load limit, PV threshold
• Outputs: Consumer_ON, Producer_ON, Alarm, StatusText_HMI
• RETURN if no enable/network signal
• IF/ELSIF structure for load shedding, PV usage, standby
• Initialization of all outputs at the beginning of each cycle

Possible applications
• Load management in residential/commercial properties with PV systems
• Smart grid-friendly control
• Energy storage systems
• Training and demonstration projects in PLC energy management

compatibility
Siemens S7-1200 & S7-1500; TIA Portal V13 and higher (recommended V16+ with PLCSIM & HMI)

Scope of delivery
.scl file with input/output declarations, state logic, and feedback parameters; header comments for threshold values and HMI texts; download link immediately after purchase
